Hope
The RELAY I participated in last week was probably the best way for me to finish up work and start my vacation.
In the busyness of finishing up work and rushing to arrive on time to the RELAY - it was hard not to stop in amazement when I walked into the park and the hundreds of people who had come to participate in the night.
The event was amazing. It was moving...and very intense.
Walking the track and reading all the luminaries in honour or in memory of someone in which cancer has touched their lives - consistently brought tears to my eyes. Never mind how touched I was by those on my team who showed up because they too had been affected by cancer (through friends or family)...and how committed they were to walking all night long by themselves or with others.
The whole night was filled with intention. All of the survivors wore blue shirts - and you were reminded how unforgiving this disease is - plaguing the young and old with no discrimination...
The night was a big reminder to me - how much I have to be thankful for. I am blessed beyond belief. It also reminded me how community plays a huge role in making a difference - the hundreds/thousands of people there that night raised $300,000 towards cancer research. My team raised over a thousand dollars in a matter of three days!!! (We procrastinated a little)
I'm glad I got to attend.....It totally kicked my butt ( I was exhausted all weekend!) but I cannot wait to participate again next year :D

I am always so glad to hear of stories of how people get together to make a difference. Way to go all of those on the team. Thanks for the reminder to be thankful of blessings.
Happy Vacation.
