I'm Back

I never really liked Gym.

I HATED gym class growing up and truly despised playing any sort of organized sports where I was required to use any sort of "hand-eye coordination" scratch that - ANY TYPE OF MOTOR SKILLS!!!

I would CRINGE when I had to catch a ball which would inevitably hit me in the head or chest (which in hindsight most likely happened because my eyes were shut soo tight in fear I couldn't see it coming)....

Most recently I've been thinking about my experiences in elementary school gymnastics. This would be the time when all the girls would get VERY excited about putting together some sort of routine to music that was graceful and artistically filled with somersaults, cartwheels, and hand stands.  I can remember trying to put together my routine and utilizing various blocks and balls to move around because...well my...cartwheels were non-existent....and my somersaults always left me flat on my back with a sore neck (and laughing at myself hysterically).

I had to be creative.

I HAD to do something. (we were being marked on our presentation!!)

So I did what any girl would do when she couldn't do a cartwheel, handstand or somersault.

I LOG ROLLED!!!!(to the front of the gym - to the left of the gym - towards my classmates - away from my classmates - I would stand up as if I was going to move into a new move - pose dramatically - and then proceed to log roll in a different direction to the funky music) I, dear friends, was a log rolling GENIUS!

I've been thinking lately this could be the answer to a number of life's dilemmas.  The "Log Roll" has saved me before...and I believe it is completely relevant to me now.

NEW PERSONAL MANTRAS - "When in doubt - LOG ROLL", "When all else fails - LOG ROLL", "When life gets tough - LOG ROLL" - EVERYBODY LOG ROLL!!!!!

...thank-you.

(for those of you who aren't familiar with the "log roll" - check this out - OR - THIS (log roll - aka - steam roll)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

IT IS HERE!

Today is "the boy's" birthday.

I try not to talk all that much about my personal life on here. But this is a pretty exciting day for me. So bear with me for a moment...

The boy and I have been together for about a year and a half now and all I have to say is that he is pretty darn great.

I am soo thankful for all the time I get with him! He makes me laugh (literally every weekend I'm garunteed to spit some sort of liquid I was drinking - out of my nose), we have SO much fun together, and he has been there for me in such an amazing way.  I love that he challenges me to be real in everything I do and has taught me the importance of standing up for what I want and believe.  I'm excited to start another year with him and see what adventures come our way....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

The RELAY I participated in last week was probably the best way for me to finish up work and start my vacation.

In the busyness of finishing up work and rushing to arrive on time to the RELAY - it was hard not to stop in amazement when I walked into the park and the hundreds of people who had come to participate in the night.

The event was amazing. It was moving...and very intense.

Walking the track and reading all the luminaries in honour or in memory of someone in which cancer has touched their lives - consistently brought tears to my eyes.  Never mind how touched I was by those on my team who showed up because they too had been affected by cancer (through friends or family)...and how committed they were to walking all night long by themselves or with others.

The whole night was filled with intention.  All of the survivors wore blue shirts - and you were reminded how unforgiving this disease is - plaguing the young and old with no discrimination...

The night was a big reminder to me - how much I have to be thankful for. I am blessed beyond belief.  It also reminded me how community plays a huge role in making a difference - the hundreds/thousands of people there that night raised $300,000 towards cancer research.  My team raised over a thousand dollars in a matter of three days!!! (We procrastinated a little)

I'm glad I got to attend.....It totally kicked my butt ( I was exhausted all weekend!) but I cannot wait to participate again next year :D

I am on vacation!

As of this past Monday I am off work for a good four weeks (Yes that's right FOUR WEEKS!)

I am one excited muffin.

The first week of holidays is ALWAYS difficult for me. I find that I can't stop thinking I forgot to tell someone something about my cases at work - or I am uber hyper because I am just NOT used to just sitting or relaxing.

I think today I'm finally settling into vacation mode. I went to the Zoo, The Book Depot, and have spent a great deal of time by the pool (this weather is amazing!).....I really don't have a ton planned while I'm off - just catching up with friends and trying to keep it low key.

I hope all you kids are doing well :D And hopefully I will see you soon :)

Relay for Life

Relayforlife

I will be participating in our Local RELAY FOR LIFE in June.

I AM SOO DARN EXCITED!

I had the privilege of participating in this event two years ago and was just blown away by the people present and all their stories (never mind how well the event was run and HOW MUCH FUN WE HAD)

This year I will be walking again and have started sending annoying e-mails out to all my lovely friends hoping they will join me!

If you are interested in joining my team - drop me a line / or you can join my team online.

If you would like to sponsor me - go HERE

If you want to just come and cheer us on - you can get more details on www.cancer.ca

I MISS JEN K!!!

That's all.

I'm sure she's having fun - but it's always when someone is away you realize how much you enjoy them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOA!!!!!

IT's HER BIRTHDAY!!!

I hope you have a good one lady :)

So darn busy....

Life has been ridiculously busy for me as of late.

It seems the weeks fly by....and I barely have a chance to exist within them!

I've totally been neglecting my blog - but when I get home at night all I want to do is sit on the couch and just veg for the hour or so that I have to myself before I fall to sleep and start another day!

(Being a grown up kinda sucks sometimes)

I find myself in my car day dreaming ALL the time - I spend the most time in the car (sometimes anywhere between 10-20 hours a week). I blare my music and think of all the creative things I would be doing if I wasn't in my car (a disco diva, movie making genius, top model judge, journalist, and restaurant owner - all random I know).

I just wanted you all to know I hadn't disappeared! I just have been caught up in the busyness of life. :)

I hope you kids are all doing well... :D
